Case Study #5: Biotechnology Building

Scope of Work
· Recommissioned the existing mechanical and control systems to optimize overall system performance.
· Replaced the existing two-position constant volume air system with a high performance variable air volume system in 90 labs to reduce the unnecessarily high air change rates.
- Installed electronic fume hood controls on 90 fume hoods to reduce excessive face air velocities when the fume hoods are not used and alarm when the lab is unoccupied but the fume hood sash is not closed.
· Installed PIR occupancy sensors and replaced the existing pneumatic controls with electronic controls in 200 labs to enable occupied and unoccupied modes of operation.
· Installed PIR occupancy sensors in the corridors to reduce lighting levels in public space when the spaces are unoccupied.
